All I want for Christmas is .....

Have you seen the film "It's a Wonderful Life" or "Serendipity"?
Every soppy Christmas film is about wishes coming true, things don't always go to plan but in the end boy gets girl, or an angel teaches a grumpy person to be happy or something magical happens.

I wanted to start this blog for people to write their wishes about what they really want for Christmas. We're too old to write to Santa but imagine if writing your wish on this blog made it come true. It's worth a try isn't it?

What do you really want for Christmas? Still love that special someone and want to make things right? Want to say you're sorry? Want to close the door on the past and move forward? Want to say thank you to someone who showed some Christmas spirit or who makes a difference to your life? Want to be brave and ask for what you dream of? Don't be shy, go for it.

Share your wishes in the comments section and maybe, just maybe they'll come true.

Merry Christmas xx

  1. What a good idea for a blog. Oh now where to begin...
My wish for 2011 is that a few of my friends will have huge life-changing things happening and i wish that they make the right decisions and have happy endings.

For me, well I'm on the eternal journey for inner-belief and confidence. And since I'm a Pisces, I'm a lucid daydreamer and hopeless romantic so I'm ever hopeful of finding a special someone to share my hopes, dreams and experiences with. Is that a big ask for 2011? I hope not. I wish it. Perhaps he's even reading this... he might know who he is.

Thanks for this blog Annie, I hope your 2011 is everything you wish for and more xx

  2. Aww you're a real sweetheart my dear.

Christmas wish? I don't have one really. I want my family healthy and my friends happy. And if you can leave a pretty, smart, Independant, woman in my stocking I won't say no ;-)

Merry Christmas from Florida my dear!

  3. My wish is simple. I want to be a good husband, father and family member. I would love my employers Nick and Jane to have a lot of luck and happiness in 2011 and also I turn 40. I want to meet up with some old mates to share it with them.

For you reading this message I wish you every happiness too

  4. What a lovely idea. As it happens, here's one I prepared earlier.

All I want for Christmas is health and contentment for everyone I love.

  5. I want two things for Christmas. The first is a bit selfish, but I would really like to be healthy. I've been off work ill and am still recovering from a serious chest infection. It would be lovely to be back to 100% for Christmas so I can enjoy the holidays properly. And secondly, like Ellen above, I want health and contentment for everyone I love.

  6. What a lovely blog Annie.

2010 has been a difficult year for so many people. I wish that 2011 would bring those people together and begin to turn things around. It would bring certainty to the uncertain, direction to those who think their current direction is reaching an end and inspiration to those who feel uninspired.

I wish for 2011 to be the year of opportunity for those who have never had an opportunity.

  7. My wish is to be like the girl in the Chanel advert, with the hot guy, the gorgeous clothes and the romance.

  8. What a lovely blog.
I wish health, happiness and contentment for all my wonderful family and friends.

I hope that 2011 brings alot of happy memories for us altogether.

For my friends who have not found love I hope that 2011 brings their perfect man and makes them happy.

I wish to explore more of the world, near and far and bring my little family with me.

Most of all I wish that my little daughter grows and learns new things each day, and is happy, healthy and content in this world.

  9. As cliched as it may sound, I wish for health and happiness for everyone I care about. If they're happy, I'm happy.

On a more selfish note, I wish I could get out there more, meet new people and if I'm lucky, meet that special someone.

I hope you get your Christmas wish as well Annie, you deserve it.

  13. Thanks for this, Annie - a super idea :)

I'd like to wish that we get to India in 2011 after having to cancel the 2010 trip.

And good health and cheer for all this Yule, of course!

  14. It's been a tough year but when someone asks you what you'd wish for the next one you realise how good you actually have it. So thank you for reminding us!

For myself, all I'd wish for is a healthy baby in March.
For you and all my friends and family - health and happiness xxx

  15. I read a book recently which said that if you wish for something, you just reinforce the fact you don't have it, and that instead you should live your life as if all your wishes have already come true.
So I'm posting this comment as someone who has everything she could possibly wish for - love, happiness, amazing family and friends, health, wealth and an abundance of opportunities for success - and for that I am truly grateful.
Hope you all enjoy the most fabulous Christmas ever, and the most exciting 2011

  18. Brilliant Idea Annie, I saw it bounding around twitter and I've been racking my brains ever since, What DO I want? I guess it's to keep the smile I've had these last few years, I love it, it suits me and I don't want it to ever go, ever, but if it gets wider, that would be totally perfect and if a little bit of skipping joins it, that would be fantastic :)
Happy Christmas and a great New Year when it comes to you :) xx

  19. You are such a clever cookie Miss B...and I'm glad you are starting to enjoy the festivities! Yeehaa! But what do you mean about being too old to write to Santa!!

I remember when I was a wee girl being asked the same question and I said I'd like us all to live forever, my brother said he would like 3 more wishes! Lol, who got the brains?

I feel a book coming on...
I am a very lucky girl with a truly great boyfriend (thank you Annie), fantastic friends, brilliant family, we are all healthy...except for a few hiccups! I would love 2011 to be the year for us all....more health, wealth and happiness for us all please!

If wishes did come true, there is one thing I would love....I'd like to spend a day, night, an hour, whatever I was granted with my Granny and Grandpa. I miss them so much and miss that feeling of being with them, it's like no other. I would appreciate them much more and would love to hear them chat about the old days and have a sing song...maybe a wee dance (although my Grandpa wasn't really impressed with my waltzing abilities) and a huge hug when it was time to go!

But in the meantime, Dear Santa....things I would like in 2011:
Chanel Handbag, a pair of Louboutins, to be much better at snowboarding, to have more lunches with friends, for our flat to finally be finished, to keep going to the gym, to have less hangovers ;)....and these things will happen!

  20. This year I'm wishing for the lessons I still need to learn. I know my learnings are arriving and I welcome them. The lessons will set me free from any pain and fear of lack.

I wish for others to feel secure in the knowledge that life is simply a series of lessons in joy and love.

  21. I prefer to see things with a little more control than a wish. I certainly hope for a happy year and for family and friends around me to make the most of all good things that come their way.

But that hope needs enough desire and need for people to make things happen. So that what I wish for... everyone making good things happen and spreading the word.

    Happy Christmas to all.

    Hey Miss Beeeeeee

For me, my wishes are squarely focused on those in my family whose health was less than perfect during 2010. Wishing they see improvements in 2011.

Also hope that certain people in my work get the credit they deserve for the work they have done over the past few years.

As for me? I just wish that myself and my loved ones have a fruitful, happy and fulfilling year.

Keep your chins up people and don't let the bad days get you down.

Merry Christmas and hope you all have an awesome time bringing in the New Year.

  23. Hello Annie :)

My Christmas Wish is to see everyone share a smile, to feel happiness. For those of us who are blessed to look around and appreciate the simple things: warmth, clothes, a home, food and love.

God Bless you all and may all your wishes come true!

  24. Hi Annie,

I think Santa is trying to get in touch with you especially after all your efforts with this site.

It seems he has a very special message for you.

  27. Annie my lovely. I read this a few days ago, and I've been racking my brains what to wish for. I mean, world peace and health to my friends and family is all very well and all that, and obviously it would be nice, but I have a feeling that you were perhaps meaning us all to be a wee bit more selfish? You know, really wish for something for ourselves. But then suddenly some things seem very trivial don't they? I think what I probably want most are: 1) to be snowed in over Christmas (only once my mum's arrived, and for the thaw to set in to allow her to leave on time too) so that I can just hibernate and do NOTHING for a few days. 2) for someone to want to buy my car (http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201046373176418/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/figaro/make/nissan/radius/10/page/1/postcode/g208ps/quicksearch/true?logcode=p). 3) To be able to find the perfect old rug for my living room on eBay dead cheap.

  28. I've already made a wish, but I'm going to make it even simpler: I wish I wasn't so lonely.

  29. Great idea Annie.
I am a very fortunate and lucky guy already so it would be greedy to ask for anything else (though I still buy a lottery ticket!)
So instead, my wish is that all the other wishes come true.
And that you have a wonderful Christmas too Annie.

  31. I would like a return to health and a job. This year has been pretty rubbish on both counts. Having hit 30 and being single for the first time in many years I wanna party like it's 1999 again and just enjoy life for a change :-)

  32. Awwww Annie, what a lovely idea!

I wish for everything 'falling into place' for those I love, their health, happiness and wishes coming true (or is that null and void like the 'wishing for more wishes' disclaimer??!!).

On a more personal note, I'm wishing for love in 2011 - the love of tummy flips, Cheshire cat grins, being enveloped in big bear hugs, gorgeous surprises and being cherished. I'd also like (can I have another one??!!) an A-Team themed wish - that I can love it when my plans come together. :o)

  33. Is there a limit to this Annie?, now that you have got me thinking I have quite a list. Maybe if the wish thing works we could make wishes everyday. We could start the day with a wish or is that just wishful thinking?

I wish my pal Vonnie has a speedy and healthy recovery from her illness as she is sadly missed on our walking expeditions.

I wish 2011 is n't as fast as 2010, sometimes I get the feeling I am moving that fast through life that I am missing the important stuff. I wish I could slow down time and be more now orientated than future focused.

There is more, best not be greedy, that will do for now

I wish everybody a stress free xmas and an energetic health filled 2011

  34. My wish is for my friend NooNoo, I made this blog for you. I wish that you put yourself first more often because you deserve to be happy and I love you.
I wish more people wore their heart on their sleeve and just went for it.
For me my wish is obvious .....I wish that things fall in to place and I get the thing I want most in the world.
    Merry Christmas x

  38. How I love that film...It's a wonderful life

My first wish is that my lovely friend's new baby daughter fights like hell for her life this Christmas, as they are wonderful people who genuinely make the world a better place.

Secondly, I wish that my sis, who is also gravely ill, finds peace in her life and that all of us who love her, find the strength to....

Finally, I wish and hope that my new business is a success in the very near future.

    Happy Christmas Annie xxx

  39. My 3 (i do get 3 right?) wishes were:

    1) Those around me have a year full of smiles. (and you Annie)

    2) I live up to my potential.

    3) That i fall in love with someone who loves me despite all the flaws i can't fix, and helps me fix the ones i can, so that this is the last Xmas i spend alone.
